Nina

Hi, my name is Nina. I'm a Lucinda Ellery client and I have been for the last four years. I'm also a Yoga teacher and I live and work in London.

My hair loss journey started in 2012 - I lost all my hair due to chemotherapy while I was going through breast cancer treatment, and just presumed it would grow back as everyone else's hair does after chemo, even if it's changed a little bit.

I waited four years - hardly anything. I've since found out that one of the chemo cocktails that was used has a 1% chance of your hair not coming back. So I've got little or random on my head - certain follicles keep growing but most of them aren't.

So I hated wearing wigs; I wore a bandana, literally, for four years. Kept it a little bit cooler as well. It affected me in a lot of ways becasue I felt I couldn't move on from my illness, even though I felt fine and I was recovering, and I had the all-clear for every year, so I did a lot of research and found Lucinda Ellery. It was very hard for me to go into the first meeting there with Chris, the consultation, because all I could think of was that they were going to say that they couldn't help me. So I remember sitting down, taking my bandana off and saying "Just tell me know if you can help me and if not I'm not going to waste your time or my time , I'll leave." And he just said "Yes, of course we can."

And that's how my journey started and within a few weeks I went in for my first mesh - I'm on my second one now, my second sort of system as they call them at Lucinda Ellery. I never looked back, the day I got hair I remember going back on the tube, and just swishing, swishing, like this, my hair around; a big smile on my face. At the same time I was worried that everyone could see that I had a mesh but no-one can. Nobody can.

I always feel I'm treated really well - very well looked after. I love going for my every six-weekly hair appointments. The staff are brilliant; they make you feel so comfortable, they're so nice. I'm now with Lucinda Ellery for ever now, because my hair is not going to grow back - I have seen underneath what it looks like and it's exactly the same.

So yeah, helped me in a lot of ways - I never realised how depressed I was until I got my hair back. Or I could have any hair style as well if I wanted - I always wanted straight hair, because I used to have fairly bushy, coarse hair - grew like anything - so I wanted straight hair and I got it. Always wanted to have a fringe - got a fringe.

Yes, I'm very very happy with my system. Very happy with Lucinda Ellery. I've got the full mesh; you can also have half or partial, but it's really helped me - I feel like a woman again.

So thank you Lucinda Ellery and I'll be there in a few weeks!
