We know how difficult female pattern hair loss can be to cope with. It's one of the most common reasons our clients come to see us. But while it impacts more women than you might think, hair loss in women is seen as taboo, causing feelings of shame, anxiety, and isolation.

Understanding female pattern hair loss

Unlike male pattern hair loss, female pattern hair loss typically looks like a slowly widening part. It comes on slowly and spreads across the top of the head. It can be caused by hormonal changes such as menopause or pregnancy, or it can be genetic. While a GP can diagnose female pattern hair loss, there is no cure – and many treatments offered by beauty brands don't work long-term.

That's why disguising the hair loss is often much more effective than trying to reverse it.

The type of transformations we can make to women's hair

How we help at our Bristol studio

We created the Intralace System and Medi Connections to address the problems caused by other hair loss solutions – and to actually offer a solution for the emotional ramifications of hair loss. Our solutions can be worn 24/7: while you exercise, while you sleep, even while you shower. You can style it and wash it as you would your own, because the System acts exactly as your own hair.

We have three options suitable to different stages of thinning:

  • Medi Connections - ultra-fine extensions to add volume to thinning hair during the earlier stages of female pattern hair loss
  • The Intralace Minima - a lighter system for thinning at the parting and crown
  • The Intralace System - the full system for more extensive thinning, giving full, natural coverage worn day and night

Each solution is custom-made and colour-matched to your natural hair, so it's completely undetectable. Our systems are integrated into your existing hair, so there's no need to shave your head.

Whether it's giving you the freedom not to worry about a wig coming loose, the confidence of wearing your signature hair style, or the feeling of self-care that comes with a day at the salon – these solutions are designed to help you feel like 'you' again.

Frequently asked questions

What is female pattern hair loss?
It is the most common cause of thinning hair in women - a gradual, diffuse thinning that is often most noticeable at the parting and crown. It can begin at any age and tends to be influenced by genetics and hormones.
Can female pattern hair loss be cured?
There is no cure, but it can be managed and disguised very effectively. We recommend seeing your GP for a diagnosis, while we focus on restoring the appearance, fullness and confidence that thinning takes away.
Which option would suit me?
It depends on how much thinning there is. The Intralace Minima suits thinning at the parting and crown, Medi Connections add volume to finer hair, and the fuller Intralace System suits more extensive loss. We advise you at your free consultation.
Will it damage my own hair?
No. Our systems are designed so your own hair keeps growing underneath, and we take great care to protect it throughout.
