Remember when you were a teenager and could toss your hair back? Sadly for many women that's a distant memory as their hair has thinned in later years. You can get that feeling back at our Manchester hair studio!

Thinning hair can develop at any age. Sometimes it's temporary, sometimes it never regains its former thickness. There are many possibles reasons, for instance:

• Illness or trauma can result in Telogen Effluvium - essentially the body devotes its resources to healing and hair takes second place. The hair growth cycle enters a resting phase where more hair is shed than is being grown, so it gets thinner until the growth phase can be resumed. Once you've recovered it should start growing again but this can take a while, and sometimes it never quite gets back to normal.
• Pregnancy can have significant effects on your hair due to the major hormonal changes both during and after it - usually these are temporary but sometimes they can be longer-lasting.
• The Menopause also sees hormonal changes and again these can affect your hair. Unless you are put on HRT these will usually be ongoing effects.
• Thinning hair can run in the family - in both the male and female line. Known as Androgenetic Alopecia it can cause early thinning which can't be cured as it's buit into your DNA.

Where they are permanent or long-lasting these conditions will often be referred to as Female Pattern Hair Loss - an overall diffuse thinning.

Depending on the extent of your thinning and the likely cause of it, we'll come up with the best options for your particular circumstances - whether that's ultra-fine temporary extensions called Medi Connections while your Telogen Effluvium runs its course, a lighter version of our Intralace System called the Minima where there's moderate hair loss, or a full version where there's more extensive loss.
